Local Forest School offering nature games, craft and bushcraft activities raising children's self-es
Last week at forest school, we read The Last Leaf, a tender story about facing our fears, trusting, and learning to let go. Afterwards, we wandered through the woods collecting autumn’s treasures; leaves, moss, lichens, seeds, feathers and sticks, pockets and palms full of colour and wonder.![]()
Back at basecamp, we turned our finds into autumnal sun catchers, each one a small celebration of the season’s change, light shining through the things we once held onto. ![]()
There’s something about the forest that helps us to soften, to breathe, to release what we don’t need to carry. The children remind us daily that courage can be quiet, that letting go can be beautiful, and that nature holds space for it all. ![]()
Can't wait to see what this week at forest school brings X
A golden autumn afternoon at Forest School @westfieldprimary![]()
The sun filtered gently through the canopy, lighting up a carpet of acorns beneath the most majestic oak trees, one of them at least 400 years old. Imagine all the stories it could tell!![]()
We spoke about the oak, its strength and resilience, and then the children set about creating little “oak people” from acorns and toothpicks.![]()
It wasn’t easy. For a moment I even wondered whether the challenge was too big… but the children proved me wrong. They didn’t give up. They problem-solved, collaborated, and showed determination, turning frustration into creativity, and small acorns into characterful little people.![]()

Last Friday forest school session...![]()
My heart is overflowing with joy, with pride, with sadness. This morning marked the end of a chapter for some of our little adventurers, as they prepare to spread their wings and head off to "big school."![]()
Watching them grow in confidence, in curiosity, in kindness, has been nothing short of magical. But with every goodbye comes that familiar ache… a reminder of just how special this time together has been.![]()
Tales and Trails has never been just about the fun (although we’ve had SO much of it!) , it’s been about connection. A true community. A place where children and families come as they are, and are seen, heard, held. Through the muddy days and the sunshine, we’ve laughed, learned, supported, and celebrated. We've built trust, joy, resilience, and belonging.![]()
Six years ago I had a vision. Today, with tears in my eyes and a full heart, I know that vision has grown into something real and meaningful. And for that, I’m deeply, deeply grateful. ![]()
To those moving on: thank you for letting me be part of your journey. You’ll always have a little forest-shaped place in my heart.💛![]()
To those returning: I can’t wait to see you in September. And for those wanting to join us, bookings will open soon — message me if you’d like to be first to know. We would love to welcome you at Tales and Trails 🦊![]()
Wishing everyone a summer full of adventure, rest, and magic X
